# 2.3 fastMPC: the underlying trust network of anyCall

fastMPC is an all-round upgrade of SMPC Network, the off-chain trust mechanism of Multichain's assets cross-chain protocol. It is also the decentralized implementation of anyCall's off-chain trust mechanism at the underlying layer.

fastMPC inherits the distributed threshold signature scheme, which is implemented through SMPC, but for generic cross-chain messaging, fastMPC extends the messaging to cover a wider range of contents other than transaction and transaction status.

As cross-chain messaging and the upper-layer business logic have been decoupled, fastMPC does not need to carry out the operation of assets cross-chain transfer, which used to be done by the SMPC Network. Therefore, it will be easier for fastMPC to open node participation to the public. Compared with SMPC Network, fastMPC is obviously more decentralized.

The open nature of fastMPC Network enables it to serve not only as an underlying trust network of MonoB and Multichain, but as the foundation for building any applications involving the consensus logic. Going forward, fastMPC will be implemented on a blockchain network for saving and sharing systematic data during the operation of the trust mechanism, until a completely open fastMPC Network is formed.

A fastMPC testnet is about to be launched soon. At that time, the community will be invited to participate. There will be a round of small-scale tests, followed by a large-scale open test. The goal of fastMPC Network is to become the trust infrastructure for decentralized systems.
